Give it a few days till the community import stuff is up and running and just see if you can import the old comm to the new comm.

Yeah, I noticed they had that option for the standard journal. DW is definitely working on importing communities too?? Where did you see that? LINK ME!!

In the Christmas morning news update they announced it:

It goes live this week if you have a paid account (either personal or the comm) To quote the undate: To import a community, you'll need to be both the admin of the community on Dreamwidth that you're importing into, and the admin of the community on the remote site that you're importing from.
